Intensive ESL Our pilot project is not only teaching refugees basic English, but also how to navigate their new community. We are using an integrative approach where students learn about a topic, then experience it in person. After learning about community services, such as libraries, they are taken on an excursion to sign up for a library card, learn how to check out materials and use computers. Our students also have opportunities to ask questions of community professionals in person during panel discussions and attend seminars on topics ranging from how to get a drivers license to emergency preparedness.
